Guilford County Schools can evaluate your child through their Exceptional Children program and provide classroom accommodations via an IEP, but a school evaluation is not a medical diagnosis and won’t, on its own, unlock insurance or Medicaid coverage for ABA therapy. A formal autism diagnosis requires a qualified medical professional: a licensed physician, psychiatrist, or psychologist.
